Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area thoroughly with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation develops or persists, seek medical attention.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting upper and lower eyelids periodically. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately. If conscious, give water to drink.
Most Important Symptoms/Effects: No specific symptoms documented for this substance. Effects may include irritation of eyes, skin, and respiratory tract upon exposure to dust or aerosol.
Note to Physician: Treat symptomatically. This product is a research chemical with limited toxicological data. Consider the pharmacological activity of the compound when evaluating exposure.
SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media: Water spray, carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical powder, alcohol-resistant foam.
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: A solid water stream may be inefficient.
Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical: Thermal decomposition may produce carbon oxides (CO, CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx). Fine dust may form explosive mixtures with air at high concentrations.
Protective Equipment for Firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective gear. Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers.
SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal Precautions: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety goggles, and lab coat. Avoid dust generation. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate area if large spill.
Environmental Precautions: Do not allow product to enter drains, sewers, surface water, or ground water. Contain spill to prevent environmental contamination.
Methods for Containment and Cleanup: Carefully sweep or vacuum spilled material and collect in a suitable, labeled container for disposal. Avoid generating dust. Clean contaminated surfaces with water. Dispose of waste in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling Precautions: Handle in a well-ventilated area. Avoid inhalation of dust or aerosol. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Use appropriate PPE at all times. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink, or smoke in work areas.
Storage Conditions: Store lyophilized powder at -20°C or below for long-term stability. Protect from light and moisture. The peptide is hygroscopic — keep container tightly sealed. After reconstitution, store at 2–8°C and use within 7 days. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aqueous solutions are most stable at pH 3.5–4.4.
Incompatible Materials: Strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, strong bases.
SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs): No established OEL, PEL, or TLV for this substance. Handle as a potentially pharmacologically active compound.
Engineering Controls: Use in a normal, well-ventilated work area. Special engineering controls are not required for the quantities typically handled in research. Avoid generating dust when handling open powder.
Respiratory Protection: Not normally required for the quantities typically handled in research. If handling open lyophilized powder in a way that could generate airborne dust, a basic dust mask is sufficient.
Hand Protection: Wear standard nitrile laboratory gloves.
Eye/Face Protection: Wear standard safety glasses.
Skin/Body Protection: Wear a lab coat or protective clothing. If splash potential exists, wear an impervious apron.
Hygiene Measures: Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Do not eat, drink, or smoke in the work area.
